'Reflective Journeys' - 2009 Art Exhibition
2009 sees the third year of partnershiip between Mental Health Service's and people who use services and The Eagle Art Gallery, (Castle Road Bedford), collaborating to create an exhibition which reflects service user's journeys, experience and creativity. Service users from Weller Wing, Day Resource Centre, Barford Avenue Centre, Empowa, Cedar House and CHMT's (Community Mental Health Teams) have exhibited their work in various mediums from:
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Photography
- Jewellery
- Woodcarving
- Pottery
- Cards
- Furniture
- Textiles
By working with the Eagle Art Gallery, we have been able to open access to everyone and work with service user's to feel confident enough to exhibit their work and maybe even sell it! This has been a breakthrough for lots of people and the owndership of framing their work, bringing it to the gallery, attending the opening, feeling valued by visitors to the gallery and comment on the exhibition has improved individuals sense of worth and sense of belonging in the community.
This year's exhibition has a theme of 'reflective journeys' and we are hoping exhibitors will use many different mediums to illustrate their own own personal reflections about thier journey back to health and the milestones experienced on the way.
